The Premier League have confirmed that the clubs occupying the bottom three slots will not fulfil their remaining fixtures, and have thus been relegated. The ruling comes as a hammer-blow to Aston Villa in particular, who had played a game fewer than every other bottom-half club.
“It’s disappointing,” Jack Grealish told Soccer on Sunday. “Obviously I’ll breeze into a Premier League club, but most of the lads are horrible footballers and maybe don’t have that option. Mingsy will be all right, but everyone else is shit at football. So they’re facing an uncertain future.”
“I’m gutted for them,” said the England U-21 international. “Some of the lads have just bought sports cars, and exotic pets. It’s hard to fix the transmission on a Ferrari and feed a polar bear on Championship wages. This is the human side of relegation that fans maybe don’t see.”
“The boys know where I am if they need me,” added Grealish. “Manchester, probably.”
