Roy Hodgson (75) has added his father Ray (106) to his backroom staff should he be appointed Crystal Palace manager for a second time. Patrick Viera was sacked on Friday after failing to win a game in 2023.
“Roy’s a good lad,” Ray Hodgson told Soccer on Sunday. “Maybe a little bit inexperienced, but he’s got that youthful energy. In some ways he’s one for the future, but with his rawness and my gumption we make a good team.”
“It’s important that we,” said Hodgson, appearing to fall asleep mid-sentence.
Roy Hodgson believes his father perfectly suits his vision for a Palace return.
“Dad knows football,” he told Soccer on Sunday. “He learned everything from his own father, who I’m also hoping to add to my backroom staff. Grandpa Rob played in the first ever game of football, so he’s maybe got that experience myself and Dad lack.”
“It’s my job now to,” said Hodgson, appearing to fall asleep mid-sentence.
