UTD midfielder Jesse Lingard has won the PFA Young Player of the Year award for a record 11th time. The 37 year-old youngster is regarded by many pundits as one of the best emerging talents in England.

“I’m buzzing,” Lingard told Soccer on Sunday. “To be able to celebrate being Young Player of the Year with my children and my wonderful grandkids Amy and Jack, is very special. Jack just started university, so it’s a double celebration.”

“It’s a confidence boost for a kid like me,” said the brand ambassador for Gucci zimmer frames. “Obviously the arthritis stopped me getting as much game time as I’d have liked this season, so this award is very flattering.”

“It’s up to me now to….,” added Lingard, appearing to doze off mid-sentence.
