Liverpool have offered Russian champions Zenit St Petersburg £11 million in cash plus Dejan Lovren in exchange for taking Dejan Lovren. Both clubs are reportedly keen on the deal, pending a successful medical.
“It was very simple,” Jürgen Klopp told Soccer on Sunday. “We offered Dejan to St Petersburg. They said you’d have to pay us. We said ‘How much?’. They said, ‘All the money in the world.’ Eventually we settled on £11 million plus Lovren for Lovren, and that is the situation.”
“Of course,” said the German, when asked if he’ll miss the Croatian defender. “Dejan has played a key role in most of our losses. He is a father, a husband, a friend — much more than just a horrible footballer.”
“The world is Dejan’s oyster,” added Klopp. “He can be successful at anything he chooses. Exception football, obviously.”
