Zinedine Zidane has personally changed the locks on 43 doors at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in an effort to keep Gareth Bale away. The Welshman was already omitted from Madrid’s squad for their Champions League showdown with Manchester City.
“I respect Gareth,” Zidane told Soccer on Sunday. “I changed the locks just to keep him away, but that doesn’t mean the door is closed. Figuratively, I mean. The actual door is literally closed in real life. But Gareth still has a future. Just not here. That door is closed. Literally. Capeesh?”
“If Gareth wants to talk, my door is always open,” said the World Cup winner. “Not literally, obviously — it’s locked. But figuratively, he’s welcome to come see me. So long as I’m there, which I’m not. Also, the door is probably locked, now that I think of it.”
“Literally,” added Zidane.
